About this Book
It’s Christmastime in Amish Country, and Chloe Humphrey has begun settling into her life in Appleseed Creek excited to see where her new relationship with Timothy Troyer will lead. Unfortunately it leads to murder when the couple discovers the body of Amish teenager Katie Lambright while on their first date.
Near the scene there is evidence that Timothy’s friend and auto mechanic Billy Thorpe is involved with the crime. The police reveal Billy is not really who he said he was and has been living the last decade in Knox County under a stolen alias. Now, Chloe and Timothy must find Billy, bring him to justice, or prove his innocence.
My Review
This is the third book in the Appleseed Creek Mysteries and each volume gets better. I love the characters in this story, especially Chloe, probably because she’s a lot like me. It has also been fun watching Becky Troyer grow up as she struggles to decide the path she should travel in her own life. Timothy Trover is also a strong character as he begins to come to terms with his own past and choices. The character I have struggled to figure out is Chief Rose, I look forward to see what the author does with her in future books. There’s definitely a back story there that needs to come out.
The storyline was once again strong, with a mystery of who killed the Amish girl was well done. The author did give a few clues about half way through the story that I did not pick up initially. As well she threw a couple of curve balls with our favorite thugs, Curt and Brock. I liked what she did there as well.
There is humor as well as tension in this story that made it an enjoyable read. I look forward to more adventures in AppleSeed Creek as well as other books by this author.
