My Review: Having been raised in a home where football was king, I jumped at the opportunity to read and review this book. I was expecting an autobiography which it is in a sense, but it really is much more than that. Joe Gibbs with the help of Jerry Jenkins tells his story, but he also shares from his heart what God has taught him. His style is open, honest, and easy going. He openly shares his faults and he is honest when he says he doesn’t have all the answers. In his years of coaching football and running a NASCAR team he’s learned the importance of having a strong support staff. He does the same thing in this book. He assembled a team of experts to talk about things like how to know the Bible is true, sin and addiction, relationships and finance just to name a few.
This would be great book for any man who is struggling with his faith, is new to the faith, or who respects Joe Gibbs for his accomplishments in sports. His writing is very down to earth and practical. I think more than anything Joe’s honesty will impact men. He deals with topics that men struggle with each day. Of course, female football fans will enjoy it, but as I saw very early in the book, Joe’s intent is to impact men. (Thank God for that!)
