|Second Chance Ranch
By Leann Harris / Steeple Hill Books
Former soldier and rodeo rider Zachary McClure’s war injuries are far deeper than physical. Skeptical that anyone can reach the dark place in his soul, he visits an Albuquerque equine therapy ranch with no expectations. How can horses possibly mend his physical and emotional injuries when nothing-and no one-else has? He finds the answer when he meets Sophie Powell, an ex-army medic with a sunny smile, gentle touch and a determination to help others through horse therapy. But behind her big hopes and cheerful attitude lurks pain-and Zachary is just the man to change that. He can make Sophie’s dreams a reality.and she may be the woman to heal this wounded hero’s heart.
I’m very excited to have Leann Harris as a guest on my blog and appreciate her taking the time to do this interview.
Thanks Leann. Â I agree that you can say truth in fiction better than non-fiction I’ve been amazed and the things God has spoken to my heart through Christian fiction.
If you follow my blog you know my favorite genre is mystery/suspense. So I was a little nervous when the author asked me to review her book. I am happy to report this is an excellent read. I loved the characters. Â Sophie is so likable. She has a spunk that I could appreciate and yet such a compassionate side with her desire to help people. Â Zach is just darn right cute! He’s such a man! His stubborn need to stand on his own two feet along with his boyish charm. Both of the main characters have their struggles that are all too real.
The supporting characters are wonderful as well and add a dimension to the story and of course our villain was a real jerk. The story is somewhat predictable but that was okay. It reminded me of some important truths about trust and the faithfulness of God and His ability to heal. Even though the ending was predictable I found myself crying through the ending.  It was the “feel good” type of cry.
Since I don’t read a lot of romance I’m not sure who I could compare Leann’s writing to, but I will say her book is an easy read that will draw you into the story.
Thank you to Leann for the opportunity to review her book and I hope to check out some of her spy stories!!!
