I do enjoy a good mystery! And this one was indeed a good mystery. One of the things I like about Linda Hall’s characters is they are real. Marylee is trying to discover who she is. Her Aunt Rose had always told her, that her parents died in an auto accident when she was three years old. Her Aunt had always told her not to go back to her home town of Burlington. But after her Aunt dies of cancer and her fiance dumps her, she picks up and travels from Oregon back to the east coast and Burlington. She finds much more than she ever bargained.
This is a quick read that will touch your heart. You feel for Marylee as she learns the truth about her past. I’m not sure who I would compare Linda Hall’s writing to. This story is not as intense as a Terri Blackstock or Brandilyn Collins, but it is a series story. You won’t find the lightheartedness that you find in a Ginny Aiken story. If you can find a copy of the book, it’s well worth the read.
