Mindy Starns Clark was the first Christian Fiction author that really “hooked” me in, with her Million Dollar Mysteries with Callie Webber. I fell in love with Callie and loved watching these stories unfold.
This stand alone novel is also very enjoyable. Mindy writes characters that are easy to identify with. This is the story of one young woman’s need to face her past and overcome the ugliest of it.
This is also a very educational book if you know nothing about the Amish, which I didn’t. Mindy has a link on her website to let you know which parts of the story are true and which ones are fiction. Which I enjoyed reading about, however she does warn that one should wait until AFTER they read the book before reading this section. She’s right there’s spoilers!
Mindy Starns Clark is one author I tend to compare other authors too. She has a style that is easy to read and one that drawns you into the lives of the characters. She is also very careful not to give away too much. I didn’t see the twist to the story until it unraveled before me.
Another great story!

Anna thought she left the tragedies of the past behind when she moved from Pennsylvania to California, but when her brother vanishes from the genetics lab where he works, Anna has no choice but to head back home. Using skills well-honed in Silicon Valley, she follows the high-tech trail her brother left behind, a trail that leads from the simple world of Amish farming to the cutting edge of DNA research and gene mapping.
Anna knows she must depend on her instincts, her faith in God, and the help of the Amish community to find her brother. She also must finally face her own shadows-and pray that she’s stronger than the grief that threatens to overwhelm them all.
