About the Author
Thrills, mystery, suspense, romance: Margaret penned it all. Nothing wrong with this, except Margaret happened to be writing for the church newsletter. After making the church picnic read like a Grisham novel, her former pastor took her aside and said, “Maybe God’s calling you to write fiction.â€
Margaret wasn’t sure if that was true, but she wasn’t about to take chances.. She now has more than 30 books to her credit–not bad for someone who failed eighth grade English. Just don’t ask her to diagram a sentence.
Happily married to her real-life hero, Margaret and her husband live in Southern California… Learn more about Margaret Brownley and her books at her website
My Review
This was such a fun story! I loved the characters and the story was excellent. It was one of those stories that was enjoyable to read. I want to read more by this author.
The characters were so much fun. Katie was easy to relate to and I loved her spunk. She wasn’t afraid to stand on her own and take risks, but she wasn’t obnoxious. Branch was probably a very typical man for the time period, yet he was able to put his prejudices aside with time.
The story was well paced and had some great action that included some lighthearted moments as well as some very touching. There were several storylines within the story, but they didn’t muddy the story. In hindsight there were clues that identified at least one of the culprits. However, I was enjoying the story that I missed them.
This is my first book by this author but definitely not my last. I would recommend this to people who enjoy historical fiction that have action, romance, and mystery.
