About the Author
Author Sandra D. Bricker Raised as a Cincinnati Kid, Sandie Bricker spent her formative years dreaming about the movies and television shows she would someday write. It came as no surprise to anyone when she packed up her Ford Fiesta and migrated to Los Angeles to study screenwriting.
“But life is what happens while we’re busy making other plans,†she jokes. While searching for a way to earn a living and pay her tuition, Sandie says she “stumbled into†her own business
working as a personal assistant and publicist to some of daytime television’s hottest stars. When her mother became ill on the other side of the country, however, Sandie put soap opera clients, film dreams—and Los Angeles—in her rearview mirror to take on a new role: Caregiver.
The first few chapters of this book I found myself asking “Is this a Christian book?” But the more I read the more I realized the author was giving us a look at real life. And the fact is real life can be very messy. In this story we meet five women who are best of fiends but they loch have struggles.
The author does a great job telling their stories. As the story progressed I felt pulled into their stories and their lives. I related a lot to Iris and her story. Well at least her story at the beginning of the story.
Most of the books I have read by this author have had lots of humor. I wouldn’t classify this one as a comedy. There are chuckle points throughout the story but they are part of the natural progression of life. I was impressed at how the author made these women real and believable.
If you are looking for a sweet happily ever after story with good Christian girls then this isn’t a story for you. But if you are looking for a story that deals with the struggles of today’s women then you will enjoy this story.
No disclaimer. I purchased this book (and a week later it was free on Amazon), but this is an author I enjoy. Â It is currently $1.99
