August is always a busy time for me at work as we prepare for the return of undergrad students on campus. Thankfully I’ve still had time to read some good books this month.  Here’s a look at what I’ve been reading.

Next week, Virginia Smith‘s newest book, The Most Famous Illegal Goose Creek Parade (Tales from the Goose Creek BandB), releases. This was an absolutely fun book to read. It was funny without being ridiculous. If you have ever lived in a small town you’ve met all of these characters. I’m looking forward to what comes next in this series.

If you have read my blog for long you know I’m a huge fan of Christy Barritt and especially of her Squeaky Clean Mystery series. This past month I read a novella from the series, While You Were Sweeping: A Riley Thomas Novella: A Squeaky Clean Spin Off. In this story, we see what happens to Riley after his brain injury. After reading Dust and Obey and seeing the change of attitude in Riley I felt the answers were in this book. I was right. It was great to see Riley step out of his comfort zone. It also really opens up the directions for the author.

Right now I’m reading, Lisa Wingate‘s newest book, The Sea Keeper’s Daughters (A Carolina Heirlooms Novel). I’m only about 120 pages into it and it hasn’t grabbed me yet. (But I think that is coming very soon!) Based on some of the characters referenced in this book I have a feeling it’s going to tie back to another Wingate book, that I loved! I don’t want to go into that too much because I don’t want to give away too much about the book.  This book releases September 8.

Releasing September 15 is a book by another one of my favorite authors, Dr. Richard Mabry.  This book, Miracle Drug, has a former president of the United States contracting diphtheria. I’m in the early stages of this book, but I have a feeling it’s going to get intense.

Not sure what I’ll be reading after I finish these two. But my “to be read” pile is pretty deep, I do love the free books for Amazon Kindle!

If you have a moment tell me what you’ve been reading!
